Yoshio had an exciting day today. This morning when I woke up, Yoshio was so unhappy that he wanted to run away. I had to give him 2 doses of antidepressants before he decided to stay. Then we started having fun. He got his first three happy symbols: overalls, candy cloud, and a dumpling (listed as "jambo gyooza" on the Tamagotchi, causing me confusion). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a picture of this.
Later on, we went on a shopping spree, buying volumes of clothing and accessories. After trying on every piece of clothing (even the dresses, which Yoshio liked), and all the hats I had, we finally decided on an ideal outfit. I might find some more outfits later.
Yoshio the Kuishinbotchi in an afro wig

For a classier look, he adds a tuxedo.
So, as you can see, I've taken advantage of the clothing feature on the iD L.
Note: Kuishinbotchi hates wearing the graduation cap.
Today's question: what is your favorite download on the Tamaogtchi iD or iD L?

Hi, everyone! Today was an especially busy day, particularly for my Tamagotchi iD L.
On July 28, Yoshio celebrated his birthday as a Kaubotchi. This morning, Yoshio evolved from Kaubotchi into Bokuhoshitchi. Tonight, I checked on Yoshio and found that he had become a Kuishinbotchi! He's striped and really cute! If I find a camera somewhere, I'll post pictures later. Tomorrow I will pursue the happy symbols quest so Yoshio can achieve true happiness.
Today's question: What is your favorite Tamagotchi iD or iD L download? (I know, repeat question, but I'm really curious about this one.)

Hi! I was gone yesterday, but today I will post. Yoshio on my iD L is still Kaubotchi, and he is paused for reasons I will address later.
Violetchi from my blue Tama-Go married a Kuchipatchi.
Violetchi (at right) is wearing a rabbit costume, making her look like the Easter Bunny.
Ringotchi from my black Tama-Go married a Shimashimatchi.
Ringotchi wears her flower dress while with her husband, Shimashimatchi.
I am going on a 2-week vacation. I am taking my Tamagotchi iD L with me, but no other Tamagotchi. I will unpause Yoshio when I start my vacation. I may be able to blog during this time, but most likely not daily.
Today's question: what is your favorite Tamagotchi iD or iD L download?

Mika the Pompomtchi today married a Spacytchi. Then she had a baby boy Yurapatchi, whom we named Yoshio, and after playing with Yoshio for a while, Mika left.
After Yoshio got settled in, we played a few games. After a while, he evolved into Kaubotchi.
Yoshio's first moments

Yoshio loves the sunny outdoors.

Mika shows up as age 5 in the memory section, but when she got married today, her stats said she was 6 years old. Wonder why.

Yoshio as a toddler, sleeping in his hat.
Today I obtained the proper materials to create a case for my Tamagotchi iD L. At some point, my iD L will be super-protected, with screen covers, case, and all.
Seriously, I'm still blogging about my Tama-Gos, nothing has happened yet to Ringotchi and Violetchi. They might get married tomorrow, though.
Today's question: What is your favorite downloaded game on Tamagotchi iD or iD L (or the various editions of each)?

Today Mika finally got her 3rd and final happy symbol. I guess it was actually her 4th happy symbol, but it filled in the 3rd space in the stats screen because the 4th was already filled in (see previous post). Anyway, Mika finally reached TamaTomo status. However, I went through some troubles to get there. This morning, the retro seeds I had planted the previous night matured and produced another okarina! Jeez, how hard is it to find a jump rope? So, I planted some more retro seeds and then messed with the time: first I changed the time to just before midnight. After it was midnight, I changed the time to just before she woke up. I don't know how much of this process is actually necessary, but just being safe. So, when Mika awoke, we went outside and she and Hapihapitchi became very excited about the plant. It finished growing, and finally produced a jump rope, Mika's third happy symbol. Then we used the jump rope.

The jump rope. Reads as "nawatobi."

Mika jumps over the rope, reaching enlightenment.

She gets her third happy symbol.

Reaching TamaTomo status and true happiness.
As you can probably see, I took the plastic wrap off to take the pictures, so the screen wouldn't reflect light. Otherwise I would have had to take pictures in the dark. I put new plastic wrap on immediately afterward.
Today's question: TamaTown is still down. What do you think happened? I'll keep this question up a few days.

Today, Mika got her 4th happy symbol because I kept her for 48 hours. However, she hasn't gotten her third one (a jump rope) yet. The retro seeds I planted yesterday matured today and the plant died. So, I planted some more retro seeds in hopes of getting a jump rope tomorrow morning. However, I'm not sure if I can even get another happy symbol.
It rained all day today. At night, Mika hangs out with her plant and Hapihapitchi.

The stat screen. Note that the third TamaToMo symbol is empty.

The plastic-wrapped iD L works quite well, except for the wad of plastic on the back and the reflectiveness and glare on the front.
Other than that, Mika visited Meloditchi at the retirement home and had another harmony pudding, which Mika evidently enjoyed.
Today's question: what is your favorite Tamagotchi minigame?

This morning, Mika's retro seed plant finished growing and produced another okarina, which I sold at the Tama Market that afternoon. Later, I planted some more retro seeds in the hope of getting a jump rope, one of her happy symbols. I also checked her door menu and noticed that the omiai party was unlocked, meaning she can now get married. However, I won't allow her to do so until she has collected all her TamaTomo symbols. Mika visited her mother Meloditchi today as well, and Mika had a harmony pudding. It was nice to see some mother-daughter bonding on here.
I have been keeping my iD L in the original blister pack with a hole cut for the buttons. However, I noticed today that this was slightly scratching the screen and the area around, though not as much as it would have if I hadn't protected the Tamagotchi at all. Hence, I wrapped my iD L in plastic wrap. It works quite nicely, except the plastic wrap feels kind of weird in your hand, a little sticky. The plastic wrap will have to do until I make a proper case, though. My idea is in process. I definitely advise using plastic wrap on any new Tamagotchi that you want to keep safe. It's not a permanent solution, though. I would like to show a picture of my iD L with plastic wrap on it. Maybe tomorrow. My camera is not readily available right now.
Today's question: how often do you use the download feature on your Tamagotchi iD or iD L? Never, rarely, occasionally, often, or all the time?

This morning, Mika woke up and became Pompomtchi. She reminds me of a cheerleader, except she stores her pompoms on her ears. After getting her first two TamaTomo stamps (smile cookie and cat hair ribbon), she went to the Donut park a few times and eventually got a pet: Hapihapitchi. I'll post more pictures tomorrow.
Mika looks great in overalls, which she loves, much more than the blue dress.

The Smile Cookie, Pompomtchi's first happy symbol.

Mika gets her first happy symbol eating the aforementioned food.
The cat ears ribbon, Pompomtchi's second happy symbol. Camera was evil so it didn't show her reaction.
At one point today, Mika visited her mom Meloditchi in the hope of getting a snack. It was called the harmony pudding. I took too long to read the name of the food, so the Tamagotchi exited the house. When we tried to revisit, Meloditchi had nothing to give Mika.

Tamawalkie Review

So, I finally got around to writing this review. There will still be a blog post tonight.
Tamawalkie combines virtual pet and pedometer qualities quite nicely. I recommend getting one, if you just want a Tamagotchi to sightsee North America, or if you are a Tamagotchi fan looking to lose weight.
Exterior: the Tamawalkie has a plastic shell much like any small Tamagotchi. It has rubber buttons and has a clip on the back so you can wear it while you walk. This clip doubles as a stand. The Tamawalkie kind of looks like a UFO.

Your Tamawalkie can be a character of your choice: Mametchi, Memetchi, or Kuchipatchi. (I chose Memetchi.) Because this Tamagotchi release coincides with that of the V5 (The story is: a Tamagotchi character was trying to get to the V5 Tama and Earth expo, but its UFO crashed. Fragments of the UFO are scattered across North America. The object of the pedometer game is to gather all the UFO pieces and return to Tamagotchi Planet.), the bad care characters are the same as those of the V5.
Overfed characters will become Osumotchi from the large family.
EDIT (August 27, 2013): I discovered that when you leave your Tamagotchi character uncared for (underfed, unhappy, etc.) for a while, it will evolve into Osumotchi once you feed it. The other characters are not verified, so I crossed them out for now. underfed ones will become Puchiputchi from the petite family, and unhappy characters will become Gozarutchi or Kunoitchi from the Ninja family. As on the V5, these growths can be reversed using certain foods, which I found on TamaTalk: Osumotchi + healthy drink = normal (found on TamaTalk more than once)
Gozarutchi or Kunoitchi + energy drink = normal (found on TamaTalk; not sure if it's true)
Puchiputchi + steak = normal (found on TamaTalk; not sure if it's true)
Please leave a comment if you've verified the above information to be true. I haven't experienced the bad care characters other than Osumotchi on my TamaWalkie.
The TamaWalkie counts both your steps taken and the steps required to reach the next city. Unfortunately, it does not actually calculate how far you have walked.
You can  buy vehicles for your Tamagotchi character, which lessen the steps necessary to reach the next city. I currently have a skateboard and a bicycle. I know the Tamawalkie can buy a car, and I think a helicopter, but I have seen a motorcycle and running shoes available as well. Better vehicles are more expensive, and I don't have a lot of mile points right now. Motorized vehicles require fuel, which can be purchased at various gas stations throughout. In different cities, fuel price varies. Vehicles cannot be used when in a city; you instead must walk.
There are 4 games available on the Tamawalkie: jump rope, count down, treadmill, and fishing. All these games except count down (which can only be played using the buttons) can be played either using buttons or by "oscillatory input" as the broken English instructions say. It means "shaking." Playing these games allow you to earn mile points (which are also earned by entering a city), which can be used to purchase vehicles, food, fuel, and vehicle repairs. Also in the game menu is a stopwatch, which goes up to 5 minutes, and as the instructions say, "it is not a game."
Right before you leave a city, you will have your picture taken with an important monument of that city and be given a souvenir. For example, when I visited New York City, I got a bagel and a picture of Memetchi next to the Statue of Liberty. A few minutes of walking later, you are told to select your next destination. You are also given the option to return to the city you were just in. My current destination is Montreal.
TamaWalkie is much better than Arukotch (from what I've read about Arukotch). TamaWalkie is a journey through North America, while Arukotch (I hear) is just a trampy girl looking for a boyfriend. If you want a TamaWalkie and see it for a good price (mine was $24.99 on eBay, I haven't seen that price since it came out, I got really lucky), buy it, because these pedometers are now rare--released 4 years ago!--and are not going to get any cheaper.
Other info:
TamaWalkie has no clock and no toilet.
The screen shuts off after a few minutes. Don't worry, it's just a screensaver mode and is still counting your steps. It will beep and the screen will come on if it needs something or gets somewhere.
You can turn the sound off by pressing buttons A and C and then selecting "off," just like a normal Tamagotchi.
You can't get great vehicles until you've gone pretty far and gotten lots of mile points. My Memetchi skateboarded to 3 cities before finally upgrading to a bicycle.
Tamawalkie uses one CR2032 battery like other Tamagotchis, and, like other Tamagotchis, comes with the battery already installed.
The instructions were definitely not proofread, and therefore were cryptic.
Shaking your TamaWalkie to get it to its destination is SO cheating!

Hope this review helped!

PS: most of this information is gathered from experience, but some is gathered from extensive online research of the very little information available about TamaWalkie. If you find any imperfections in the information, or would like to add something crucial, do not hesitate to leave a comment here, and I will edit the review again. It's frustrating how little is shown on the internet about this awesome pedometer pet!

Hello! Today was eventful for Mika.
This morning, the instant Mika woke up, she evolved from Rolutchi to Hineonetchi. I have to take impeccable care of her if I am to obtain Ponpontchi. Mika will probably evolve tomorrow.
Apparently Hineonetchi's birthday is today.
Mika and I planted some retro seeds.
Mika sleeps with her blond hair still intact.
TamaWalkie review coming soon! I have to write it down on actual paper first!

Hi, I was very busy yesterday, so I had to skip blogging. Anyway, I'm back!
Tamagotchi iD-L update: Meloditchi yesterday got her 4th happy stamp, giving her official TamaTomo status. Today, Meloditchi got married and moved on. Memories from her lifetime:
She hated rice so I had to pay for every meal. She looked better in a kimono than her character-specific clothes.
Meloditchi slept without her hat. It looked really weird.
She married a Hirotchi and they had a baby Momoirotchi, whom we will call Mika. Then Meloditchi left Mika, and so Mika's life began.
An hour later, Mika evolved into Rolutchi (looks like a sushi roll) and subsequently obtained 300 Gotchi points. Then she went to sleep.
Mika sleeps with her back to us, obscuring her facial features.
That's it for today! Tomorrow I will unpause my other Tamagotchis (one V4, two V4.5s, 2 Tama-Gos, all of which were paused because of my busy last few days).
Thanks for reading! Today's question: Are you able to download things to your Tamagotchi iD or iD L (if applicable)? I'd like to get an infrared USB thing for this very purpose.

P.S. I mentioned last post that Meloditchi was a foot tall all her life. What I was looking at was the generation, and the number had a character next to it that looked like "ft." Whoops. Now Mika is at the second generation.

Monday, July 16, 2012

Hi! I have begun narrowing the focus of my blog.
Tamagotchi V4.5 update: Atlas the Daiyatchi became a Celebtchi. I wonder what determined that evolution. He had the same number of skill points in each category. Aspen the Shitekitchi left her baby girl Aneya, who later evolved into Kuchitamatchi and began preschool.
Tamagotchi Music Star update: I removed the batteries from both my Music Stars, for now. I was having trouble taking care of so many Tamagotchis at once.
Tamagotchi iD-L update: Meloditchi got her third happy symbol. What happened: After the seeds I planted yesterday produced an item, I can't remember which, I planted some retro seeds and then changed the time to almost midnight. After midnight, I checked Meloditchi's age, and she was 4, a year older than she had just been! She was even eligible to marry! So, passing midnight must do that to the Tamagotchi iD-L age counter. I moved the time to just before Meloditchi got up. When she did so, we went outdoors and the plant I had planted the "previous night" produced okarina, Meloditchi's happy symbol! So then we used the item.
Okarina, straight from the plant

Meloditchi begins playing.

The king's royal guard (or whatever) join in.

Meloditchi is elated and gets her third happy symbol.

Nonsequitor: it rained all day today again!
Now I only have to get one more happy symbol, having her as an adult for 48 hours. Then she can get married and leave. Photo I will post eventually: Meloditchi sleeps without her hat.
Today's question: I am asking you because I have no idea--can Tamagotchi iD-L characters ever be over one foot tall? That stat has stayed the same all of Meloditchi's life. (I'll have to start naming my iD-L characters to avoid confusion on my blog.)
My blog feels nicer with fewer characters on it and more focus! I think I'll still blog about my Tama-Gos though.

Ok, ready for another blog post?
Tamagotchi iD-L update: Painaputchi became Meloditchi! This morning I found that the plant she tried to grow with seeds shriveled up and died. D:  So we planted some more seeds, and it rained a lot today, so maybe that will help? She got her first happy symbol when I gave her a kimono (she looks great in it) and the second happy symbol when she ate a heart parfait ice from the TamaCafe. I found all the happy symbol information on TamaTalk and Tama-Zone.
The heart parfait ice, which Meloditchi adores.

Meloditchi getting her second happy symbol, from eating the heart parfait ice.

Meloditchi also got a pet named Doremitchi from the donut shop.
Meloditchi, looking snazzy in her kimono, hangs out in the moonlight with Doremitchi. It was cloudy and rainy all day.
TamaTown Tama-Go update: Shelltchi on my blue Tama-Go became Violetchi! When I use the Violetchi figurine, she works at her floral shop. Violetchi has a heart on her bedspread! (I didn't get a chance to take a picture.)
Violetchi looks very attractive in a flower dress, she sells them herself...

But not so great when she brushes her teeth.

Tamagotchi Music Star update: Joshua the Hinotamatchi became Kuchipatchi, and then went over to Music School for his pro-debut audition, where Colleen the Chamametchi became Violetchi, and David the Nonopotchi became Kuromametchi. Chino? the Kuromametchi witnessed his band members, Louis the Nonopotchi and Dino the Hinotamatchi, evolve into Mametchi and Togetchi, respectively. Both Joshua's band Papaya and Chino?'s band Holiday failed their pro-debut.
Joshua is sleeping in the daytime, the same condition that plagued his grandmother, Petunia.
I'm going to soon put fewer Tamagotchis on my blog, and maybe run fewer of them at once, in order to focus better on the Tamagotchis I do blog about. I might take my Music Stars off this blog. Though if I experience a strange scenario on any of my Tamagotchi, I will post it on here.
Today's question: Are you excited about Tamagotchi L.I.F.E.?

Good day, fellow Tamagotchis!
Tamagotchi iD-L update: Paletchi became Painaputchi. She planted another tree to replace the one that produced grapes this morning.
Painaputchi approaches with a smile.
TamaTown Tama-Go update: Belltchi from my blue Tama-Go became Shelltchi. Shelltchi from my black Tama-Go became Ringotchi. (darn, I didn't mean to take substandard care of her!)
Tamagotchi Music Star update: Joshua the Hinotamatchi started music school and formed a band named Papaya with Colleen (a Chamametchi) and David (a Nonopotchi). Chino? the Kikitchi became a Kuromametchi.
Tamagotchi V4.5 update: I accidentally married Aspen the Shitekitchi to Ura Mametchi via the matchmaker, and the two had a baby girl. Aspen's former future husband, a Daiyatchi (yes, a teen) named Atlas, will become the subject of an experiment: if you have all the same amount of skill points in each area, what character will your Tamagotchi become?
I think that's it for now. Today's post is shorter than yesterday's because there was no story at the beginning.
Today's question: Would you collect every Tamagotchi ever made?

I am finally back!
Late last night, I got home from my vacation. Lo and behold, on my counter was sitting a box...from CDJapan! Unable to restrain myself, and not being able to find my camera, I opened the box. Inside was a Tamagotchi iD-L and I hadn't realized the box was so small! I then, supercarefully, so as to collect the package, eased open the box. After many trials and tribulations with the battery hatch (you can find out how to open it on YouTube) I put the included batteries inside the Tamagotchi, and from the depths of the toy came a happy song. I tried to read the instructions, which were in Japanese. I could sound out the instructions but understand less than half of them. Nevertheless, this did not cut down on my excitement. After entering the date, time, birthday, and username (in that order) the egg on-screen hatched into a baby girl: Momoirotchi!
Later, as I was about to photograph her, she evolved into Paletchi, was given 300 Gotchi points, and fell asleep.
Paletchi is asleep, in a pink fluffy bed.

Paletchi hangs out in her room, even cuter when awake.

Soon I will put up a TamaWalkie review. My TamaWalkie recently got to Boston.
Tamagotchi Music Star update: Chino? the Kuchitamatchi became Kikitchi and began music school, forming a band named Holiday with a Nonopotchi named Louis and a Hinotamatchi named Dino. Shortly after, Joshua the Kuribotchi became Hinotamatchi.

TamaTown Tama-Go update: Hoshitchi from my black Tama-Go became Shelltchi. Belltchi remains Belltchi but will probably evolve tonight.
Shelltchi is shaped, self-explanatorially, like a seashell.

Tamagotchi V4 update: Carla the Sebiretchi forfeited her occupation as a baker, to become a preschool teacher.

Today's question: how much of a priority is Tamagotchi in your daily life?
Thanks for reading! Wow, this is one of my longest posts!
